Bel
tree is considered a very sacred and holy tree in the Hindu religion. The
leaves of this tree are generally trifolic--a leaf that's divided into three
leaflets--which are believed to represent the 'trinetra' or three eyes of lord
Shiva. According to Hindu mythology, the leaf also represents the holy
trinity--Bramha, Vishnu and Maheshwar i.e. Shiva. It is also known to be lord
Shiva's favourite.
The crescent Moon adorns the hair of Lord Shiva. He is also known as
Chandrashekhar. The word 'Chandra' means moon. Shekhar means 'crest' or 'peak'.
