Medallion 3- Bharhut Series

Medallion Style: Plant

The lotus in this medallion unfolds with a quiet grace. The inner petals droop softly over the stamens, while the outer ones extend outward in calm symmetry. Surrounding them, a ring of larger ornamental petals forms a gentle frame. What’s most striking is the mid row of petals—an abstraction that feels less botanical and more interpretive, as if the artist was experimenting with how far the lotus could be reimagined. This balance between form and abstraction is what makes Bharhut’s medallions so timeless.
